Cartagena se prepara para el paro nacional
La movilización, prevista para los días 28 y 29 de mayo, busca respaldar la reforma laboral y la consulta popular promovidas por el presidente Gustavo Petro, actualmente en trámite legislativo.
En medio de una creciente tensión política a nivel nacional, Cartagena de Indias se alista para afrontar el paro nacional de 48 horas convocado por las principales centrales obreras del país.
En respuesta a la convocatoria, la administración local, bajo el liderazgo del alcalde Dumek Turbay, ha adoptado un paquete de medidas preventivas que incluyen la suspensión de clases en los colegios públicos y el despliegue de un robusto operativo de seguridad para garantizar la continuidad de la vida urbana, turística y productiva.
La decisión de cerrar las instituciones educativas oficiales obedece a la adhesión del magisterio —representado por Fecode y Sudeb— a la jornada de protesta. No se contemplan alternativas académicas ni servicios de apoyo como transporte o alimentación escolar, lo que implica una interrupción completa del calendario en el sector público. Las instituciones privadas, por su parte, operarán con normalidad.
Aunque las autoridades locales descartan un escenario de desorden o colapso, el dispositivo de seguridad sugiere una estrategia de contención amplia: se instalará un Puesto de Mando Unificado desde la madrugada del miércoles, con participación de entidades civiles y militares, incluidas la Policía, la Armada, la Fiscalía y organismos de gestión del riesgo. A la par, se emitirá una alerta amarilla en los hospitales para reforzar la atención de urgencias.
El turismo, columna vertebral de la economía local, también entra en el radar del plan de contingencia. La administración distrital ha recomendado el uso de rutas marítimas para acceder a la zona insular de Barú, anticipando posibles bloqueos en la vía terrestre. Corpoturismo, la entidad promotora del sector, trabaja junto a hoteles y operadores para preservar la experiencia de los visitantes en uno de los destinos más emblemáticos del Caribe colombiano.
La movilización en Cartagena será una de las muchas que, a nivel nacional, pondrán a prueba la capacidad del gobierno Petro para sostener el respaldo popular a su ambicioso proyecto de reformas. Mientras tanto, la ciudad amurallada se debate entre la defensa del derecho a la protesta y la necesidad de asegurar su cotidianidad.
